PRINCE GEORGE – School District 57 is bringing back its Career Pathways Program, giving students a chance to explore what career paths they may want to go down before committing to any post-secondary decisions.

“All these programs are just about experiencing and seeing what there is to offer. You might be interested in health care, but you don’t know where you want to go in health care, so the Adventures in Health Care program takes you through over 30 different medical careers, and you get to explore two hands on activities over a couple days with Northern Health, UNBC, CNC, and some other new partners and basically get a sort of taste of what you do and don’t like,” explained SD57’s Career Program Coordinator Steven Foster.

The Adventures in Health Care is one of several programs, with the others being:

  • Job shadowing Prince George Fire Rescue and/or emergency dispatch workers.
  • Adventures in Technology, a brand new program for students to explore technology programs at CNC and UNBC.
  • A Vista Radio internship.

“We have so many things to offer, and students can really explore things from dual credit, which allows them to get credits from high school and post-secondary institutes, all while they’re still in grade 12 or 11, and that will really help them sort of get a step ahead for post-secondary down the road,” Foster said.

The deadline to apply is February 13, and if you’re interested in applying for one of these programs, or want to learn more, you can visit its website HERE.
