PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Spruce Kings are beaming with confidence. Winners of their last four including two impressive road victories have pushed a subpar start to the new year into the rearview. With 20 games left in the season and only eight points separating first place from fourth the opportunities are there for the Kings to take the division

“Our mentality doesn’t change. We’re chasing Coquitlam right now and we have two teams that are chasing us quite tightly in our division. We have to make sure that we are taking points out of every road trip and every homestand.” said Spruce Kings Head Coach Brad Tesink.

Coinciding with the Kings winning streak, has been strong efforts across the board including more chatter among players, more blocked shots and more players willing to go to the net to make plays. All of this added into full 60 minute efforts has resulted in success

“Obviously consistency is key and we’ve won four games in a row. The defense has been doing well, the forwards have been doing well and I’ve been playing well so we just keep moving forward.” said Spruce Kings Goalie Ryder Green

Following Friday’s home game against basement dwellers Surrey, the Kings hit the road for what could be there most pivotal road trip of the season which sees them play four games in five nights including Langley and Coquitlam the two teams that bookend them in the standings. Coach Tesink is not worried about the schedule and has the team ready to go.

“These guys are 16 to 20 years old with a ton of energy. They’re going to able to compete at a high level every night. We’re not going to use an excuse of four games in five nights because we expect that and we’ll be ready to come to play every night.” said Tesink.

Up next for the Prince George Spruce Kings, is a matchup against the Surrey Eagles at Kopar Memorial Arena, Friday at 7pm.
