Update: RCMP investigate Ahbau Street shooting

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Prince George RCMP is investigating a shooting that occurred overnight on the 600-block of Ahbau Street.

Police say the shooting occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, January 30, at a residence at that location. Frontline police officers attended the scene and confirmed there were no injured residents. The investigation lead to the partial closure of Ahbau Street which was now been re-opened to the public.

“The investigation is still in its early stages, but initial findings indicated this was likely a targeted event and there is no increased risk to the general public. If anyone in the neighbourhood witnessed the event or saw something suspicious we ask that they please contact the Prince George RCMP to speak with police,” says Cst. Jenna Moore, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

The investigation is currently with the RCMP’s Serious Crimes Unit, which is actively working to identify the outstanding suspect.

Earlier: A police incident has closed a portion of Ahbau Street in Prince George.

The closure started early this morning (Jan.30) though Prince George RCMP is yet to confirm the reason.

Ahbau Street is temporarily closed between 5th Avenue and 8th Avenue.
