PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings are shifting the focus of their home game next Friday, February 20, against the Powell River Kings to one of solidarity and support for Tumbler Ridge.

“The Spruce Kings organization extends its deepest condolences to the families and residents of Tumbler Ridge. While hockey is what brings us together at the arena, we recognize that our true strength lies in how we show up for our neighbors during their most difficult moments.

“To assist the community and support the well-being of its youth, the Spruce Kings will be dedicating the following proceeds to the Tumbler Ridge Parent Advisory Council (PAC) through the Lake View Credit Union account,” the team said in a statement.

To that end, $2.00 from every ticket sold for Friday’s game will be donated to the PAC to support student wellness and community initiatives.

The Spruce Kings will also donate the entirety of the organization’s share of the 50/50 proceeds directly to the fundraiser.

“Our hearts are heavy as we look toward next Friday night,” said the Spruce Kings President, David Keough. “We know that no amount of money can heal the pain the Tumbler Ridge community is feeling right now, but we want our neighbors to know they are not alone. We invite everyone to join us—not just for a hockey game, but to stand in a circle of support for the Tumbler Ridge Community.”

Puck drop for the game is 7:00 p.m. You can buy your tickets online here: https://www.showpass.com/pgsk0220powellriver/ For in-person purchases, the Spruce Kings office re-opens Tuesday February 17 at 9 a.m.
