KAMLOOPS — Aidan Foster broke some hearts in Kamloops when he scored in the 14th round of a shootout to lift the Prince George Cougars to a 3-2 comeback win over the Blazers on Valentine’s Day Saturday (Feb. 14) night.

That goal capped off yet another Cougars comeback win over the Blazers and it was only possible because Terik Parascak tied the score with six seconds left in regulation at Sandman Centre.

Kamloops led 2-0 just past the ten minute mark of the third period after goals from Tommy Lafreniere in the first period and Josh Evaschesen in the third. Kayden Lemire put the Cougars on the board at 12:21 of the final frame.

Parascak then redirected a Carson Carels point shot into the net to erase the two goal deficit at 19:54 of the period.

Dmitri Yakutsenak and Evaschesen were the other goal scorers in the shootout as both goaltenders stood tall until Foster wired a glove-side shot into the net to give the Cats the extra point. The Cougars have seven wins in eight games against the Blazers this season.

Cougars netminder Josh Ravensbergen was outstanding once again as he turned aside 32 of 34 shots to pick up the win. Blazers netminder Ivans Kufterins stopped 31 of 33 shots in a losing effort.

Prince George (32-19-2-0) is third in the Western Conference with 66 points from 53 games. Kamloops (25-18-6-5) is in fifth place with 61 points from 54 games.

Next up for the Cougars is a Family Day matinee in Penticton against the Vees on Monday (Feb. 16). The Cougars will then play six games against east division teams in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with their next home game at CN Centre scheduled for March 6 against the Spokane Chiefs.
