Power play prowess leads Spruce Kings past Express in BCHL Road Show
BURNS LAKE, B.C. — The Prince George Spruce Kings scored four power play goals en route to a 5-2 win over the Coquitlam Express in the first game of the BCHL Road Show in Burns Lake Saturday (Feb. 14) night.
Marcus Lougheed and Carter Hesselgrave scored those power play goals in the first and third period respectively as Prince George (25-13-2-0) moves to 52 points from 40 games. They hold a four point lead over Coquitlam (23-14-1-1) as the Express have 48 points from 39 games.
Lougheed scored twice on the man advantage in a 92 second span to put Prince George up 2-0 after the first period.
Coquitlam got on the board in the opening minute of the second period through Tyler Chiovetti, though Tai Ushio restored the two goal lead at 7:13 of the period. Jack L’esperance scored his first BCHL goal off a faceoff at 9:27 of the period to make it a one goal game heading to the third.
