SAR teams from Quesnel and Prince George help rescue trapped snowmobiler Friday
QUESNEL, B.C. — Search and rescue teams from Prince George and Quesnel was deployed Friday (Feb. 27) night to help rescue a snowmobiler who was trapped in a large drainage deep within avalanche terrain near Yanks Peak, east of Quesnel.
In a statement, Quesnel Search & Rescue says the team drafted an “on-the-ground plan” to rescue the snowmobiler in an area of “considerable” avalanche risk.
“To mitigate the danger of exposing more volunteer personnel to the hazard, a request was made for the Royal Canadian Air Force 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron from Comox,” Quesnel Search and Rescue said.
“This specialized resource is reserved for high-risk missions, and we are grateful they accepted the task.”
