PRINCE ALBERT, SASK. — Kooper Gizowski had his second two goal game of the weekend, but this time the Prince George Cougars weren’t able to come out on top.

The Cougars lost 4-3 to the Eastern Conference-leading Prince Albert Raiders Saturday (Feb. 28) to end their six-game east division road trip with four wins and two losses. The Cougars (36-22-2-0) remain third in the Western Conference with 74 points from 60 points.

Goals from Daxon Rudolph and Justice Christensen had the Raiders (45-8-5-1) up 2-0 just past the seven minute mark of the second period. The Cougars responded through Townes Kozicky, who made it 2-1 at 7:25 of the period.

The Raiders however had two more goals in them as Jonah Sivertson and Riley Boychuk scored just 12 seconds apart to make it 4-1 Prince Albert. That fourth goal ended Josh Ravensbergen’s night as he was replaced after making 13 saves on 17 shots in 28:27 of work.

Alex Levshyn stopped all 11 shots he faced in 29:26 of relief work at the Art Hauser Centre.

Gizowski ripped a shot past Michal Orsulak at 13:48 of the second to make it a 4-2 game after 40 minutes. The Cougars pressed on in the final frame but they only managed one more goal – Gizowski’s 30th of the season – scored on a 6-on-4 power play at 19:34.

Osrulak picked up his 22nd win of the season with 29 saves on 32 shots.

The Cougars now return to Prince George for a six-game homestand at the CN Centre which begins on Friday and Saturday (March 6 and 7) against the Spokane Chiefs.
