Update: Highway 97 opens to single lane alternating traffic following ‘Multiple vehicle incidents’

HIXON — Update: Drive BC says the highway has opened to single-lane alternating traffic.

Earlier: (11:05): Motorists beware.

Drive BC says “multiple vehicle incidents” at the bottom of Woodpecker Hill have closed Highway 97 in both directions.

Prince George RCMP say one of the incidents involved a tractor trailer that went into a ditch 15 to 18 kilometres north of Hixon between Maag Road and Kolling Road just before 6 a.m.. Police say the driver was not injured.

Drive BC indicates slippery road conditions may have played a role in some of the incidents.
