PRINCE GEORGE — The provincial government is providing $1.7 million in funding to support 32 communities throughout British Columbia host local events that celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

Prince George will host a watch party in Canada Games Plaza for the final match of the FIFA World Cup on July 19.

Premier David Eby says hosting the World Cup “is a once in a generation opportunity, adding it’s something everyone will remember, especially the thousands of kids in BC that look up to these incredible athletes.”

Victoria says funded events will take place during the FIFA World Cup from June 11 until July 19. The Province notes the 32 funded events will deliver a combined total of 333 event days and reach a potential estimated audience of one million people.
