PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP arrested a man for an alleged break-and-enter this week.

Police say that shortly before midnight on Monday, March 30, they were notified that there was an unauthorized person inside a compound on the 2000-block of First Avenue.

Officers attended the area and located the suspect inside the compound by using a Police Dog Services team and a drone. RCMP say the man was arrested without incident and taken into custody.

The suspect was identified as James Edward Martin Smith. Police say Smith had two outstanding arrest warrants at the time of the arrest and was held in custody until he could attend court.

“The speed at which investigators located and arrested the suspect was due in part to the quick notification to police of the occurrence, but also due to our blend of traditional police tactics with advancements in available technology. We look forward to the continued use and positive results we are seeing with the new technologies we have been integrating into our investigations,” said Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
