PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George RCMP has arrested a suspected arsonist.

Police have been investigating a spate of arsons that occurred in mid-March, affecting several locations in the Crescents neighbourhood.

The first incident occurred on March 15, just before 2:30 a.m. at a residence on the 2200-block of Laurier Crescent. Two vehicles and an outbuilding suffered significant damage in this incident.

On that same night, just an hour later, a fire was reported on the 2100-block of Laurier Crescent. The investigation revealed that a garbage can had been lit on fire, which subsequently broke a window in the lobby of that building and started a fire inside the lobby.

On March 21, just after 10:00 p.m., a fire was reported in a shed at a residence on the 1900-block of Third Avenue, which investigators determined was suspicious in nature.

“Our investigators have reviewed available video surveillance and dash camera footage from near all three arson sites and have now identified a suspect in the Laurier Crescent incident. While it is yet unclear whether the events are related, we are asking for anyone who may have any relevant information to please contact a police officer with this information,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.

Investigators are looking for any available dash camera or video surveillance footage that would show the movement of persons or vehicles through these neighbourhoods around the time the fires began. If you have any information that can help advance these investigations, please contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300 or anonymously through Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
