Spruce Kings forward commits to the University of Guelph

PRINCE GEORGE — Spruce Kings forward Marcus Lougheed has committed to the University of Guelph for the 2026-2027 season.

Lougheed played just one season in Prince George but was quite productive, amassing 60 points (20G 40A). Prior to joining the Spruce Kings, Lougheed played 240 games with his hometown Collingwood Blues of the OJHL, winning two league championships and a Centennial Cup National Championship.

“I am very excited to be joining the Guelph men’s hockey program. I am very excited to be in a place where I can grow my game while getting a great education. I would like to thank the Spruce Kings and Blues organizations for helping me get where I am in my career. I’m looking forward to the next chapter,” said Lougheed.

“Marcus joined us last summer and made an immediate impact on and off the ice for our team. He has more an earned this opportunity with the University of Guelph and will have a very successful USports career starting next year,” said Head Coach Brad Tesink.

The Spruce Kings are back on the ice Tuesday night when they visit the Langley Rivermen for Game 3. That series is tied at one game apiece.
