PRINCE GEORGE – There has been a lot of discussion surrounding the Prince George Kodiaks after the organization shuffled its board and fired former head coach Jamie Boreham. Amid these discussions has come allegations against former-President Craig Briere, and he spoke out to discuss what he says are “false and untrue accusations.”

“It’s been probably one of the toughest times in my life for the last six weeks. You’re not only having to navigate through all these untrue and false statements that really have impacted my personal and my professional life, it’s also the people around me that have also been impacted by it,” Briere said.

Briere says he reported the allegations and threats made against him to RCMP, with Prince George RCMP confirming an investigation has concluded. Briere also continued to retain legal counsel, as he says this situation had him worried for his family’s and his own safety.

“It’s not easy when you have to go to the RCMP to get them involved to dispute false allegations and rumors and to, more importantly, provide some protection,” he said.

“We understand that people are passionate and have their opinion, but there’s a point where opinion and passion turns into harassment and defamation: being sent emails and texts and phone calls repeatedly over several weeks, online posts that are spreading allegations and rumors from anonymous and unverified accounts, it’s gone beyond just being passionate,” he continued.

The BC Football Conference says it’s waiting for more details surrounding the allegations, but continues to monitor the situation and is prepared to act, adding there are policies in place for situations like this.

“Obviously we don’t want anybody spoken poorly about, so once we once we get the allegations, then we can address the matter accordingly within our framework of our rules,” said BCFC President Tyler McLaren.

“We just have to make sure that whatever we get from Craig (Briere) to be able to review, that we do it thoroughly and make sure that we hold people accountable, if so appropriate,” McLaren continued.

Briere says he’s concerned about the allegations not just for himself, but for the Kodiaks organization.

“Sponsors and officials and people are being involved in this, where the same false allegations are being shared to people that are outside of the organization,” Briere said.

“It has impact, and at the end of the day we want to make sure the Kodiaks are viable, that they’re successful and that they have a great season in 2026. Sharing false accusations impacts not just myself, it impacts everybody else,” he continued.

CKPG News reached out to the Kodiaks, but the organization said it has no comment as the RCMP investigation was not directed at the team.
