FORT ST. JAMES — RCMP is seeking witnesses, CCTV footage or dash cam footage following an incident in Fort St. James on Friday (April 10).

Police say at approximately 2:20 p.m. that day they received a report of threats at a home on Kenner Road.

“The suspect was determined to be associated with a green Ford pickup, which was located by police traveling northbound on Highway 27,” says the RCMP.

“A vehicle stop was attempted; however, the vehicle allegedly fled and police pursued briefly before disengaging. While investigators attended the residence to advance their investigation, police received additional information that the suspect vehicle had crashed on a forest service road and that a man was seen walking in the area with a firearm.”

Due to the perceived risk to the public and police, the North District Emergency Response Team was called. They eventually made contact with the man who was taken to hospital for possible treatment.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid at this time.

“We continue to look for witnesses, specifically with respect to the driving behaviours of the suspect,” said Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP. “If you saw the vehicle or have video of it driving anytime Friday afternoon, please call police.”

The green Ford F250 was bearing a BC licence plate, number KX0684, and would’ve travelled from where it allegedly fled police on Highway 27 to where it came to rest at approximately the 55 km mark of North Road.

Anyone who has any information, CCTV or dash camera video is asked to contact the Fort St. James RCMP at 250-996-8269.
