Vees even series with Cougars with 5-2 win

PRINCE GEORGE — The Penticton Vees defeated the Prince George Cougars 5-2 Wednesday night at the CN Centre to even the second round playoff series at two games apiece.

The game was overshadowed by the referees, who gave the Vees eight powerplay opportunities, including two five minute majors. The Vees ended up scoring four goals on the powerplay. The Cougars went 1 for 3 with the man advantage.

Louis Wehmann opened the scoring at the 8:21 mark of the first period but the Cougars stormed back to score two goals in 12 seconds. Those goals were scored by Kooper Gizowski and Lee Shurgot.

Ryden Evers tied the game at 2 in the second period then went on to score three more power play goals in third to clinch the win before 5,385 fans at the CN Centre. The Vees outshot the Cougars 35-29.
