Vees eliminate Cougars in Game 6
PRINCE GEORGE — The Penticton Vees overcame a two-goal third period deficit to defeat the Prince George Cougars 3-2 in overtime before 5,632 fans at the CN Centre Sunday night. With the win, the Vees won the series, 4-2.
The Cougars were flying on all cylinders through two periods of play, outshooting their visitors 33-12. Carson Carels and Lee Shurgot scored the Cougars goals. But an early third period marker by Penticton’s Diego Johnson two minutes into the third frame shifted momentum in Penticton’s favour.
Doogan Pederson tied the game with just over six-and-a-half minutes left in the third and Jacob Kvasnicka scored the overtime winner 2:16 into overtime.
The Cougars outshot the Vees 42-25. The Vees will meet the Everett Silvertips in the third round.
