“The library is all about accessibility and being open to everybody, and that’s essentially what this place is. You can get in here quite easily, it’s easy to move around. We got a lot of native plants, we’ve got haskaps and Saskatoon berries, we’ll have vegetables over there, and people are encouraged to come down here and enjoy what we’ve got right here in downtown,” Hamilton said.

He adds there will be free events hosted throughout the season at the garden’s mini-ampitheatre, like Storytime Under the Stars, Bicycle Repair Café, Knit in Public Day, and more.

“This amphitheatre is a throwback to those that may remember our original location on Brunswick, the little story pit we had in there. That’s what this is designed around and that’s what it’s used for. Sometimes people come down, they’ll enjoy the grass, sit down, read a book, and sometimes we’ll have storytimes in here and a lot of fun events with the library,” Hamilton said.

Weather permitting, the Knowledge Garden is expected to be open until October.
