Harley Chingee reelected Chief of McLeod Lake Indian Band

MCLEOD LAKE — In a landslide vote, Harley Chingee has been reelected as chief of the McLeod Lake Indian Band.

Chingee received 170 votes while his closest competitor was Jodie Ware, who received 73 votes. Chingee was first elected chief in 2017 and will serve his fourth term.

The vote took place on June 5. Here’s the vote breakdown:

  • Aubichon, Trevor: 14
  • Chingee, Harley: 170
  • Prince, Patrick: 9
  • Ware, Jodie: 73

We’ve reached out to Chief Chingee for reaction but have yet to hear back. However his election platform championed a number of issues, including long-term economic viability, addressing the spruce beetle infestation, sustainable development, and forestry as the Band’s economic foundation.
