PRINCE GEORGE — The City of Prince George is looking to fill approximately 150 paid positions to help run the 2026 municipal election, with applications now being accepted through July 31.

The City is seeking election officials for advance voting opportunities as well as general voting day, scheduled for October 17, 2026. Interested residents can apply online through the City’s website or pick up an application package on the fifth floor of City Hall.

Officials say a large team of workers is needed to ensure voting locations operate smoothly and that all election procedures are followed in accordance with provincial legislation and local bylaws.

Among the positions available is the Presiding Election Official (PEO), who is responsible for overseeing the operation of a voting place and ensuring all requirements under the Local Government Act are met. The position pays a day rate of $550.

The City is also hiring Alternate Presiding Election Officials (APEOs). These officials assist with managing voting locations and assume the responsibilities of the PEO if needed. The position pays $500 per day.

In addition, the City requires numerous Election Officials (EOs) to carry out duties such as voter registration and monitoring voting machines. Election Officials receive a day rate of $320.

Those selected to work the election must be available from approximately 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the days they are scheduled. Actual hours may vary depending on the role assigned. Voting locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during both advance voting and general voting day.

The upcoming election will determine the makeup of Prince George City Council for the next four-year term. City officials say serving as an election worker offers residents an opportunity to contribute to the democratic process while earning competitive pay.

More information on election employment opportunities, candidate information and voting details is available through the City of Prince George’s election webpage.

Applications for election worker positions will be accepted until July 31.
