Those travelling with carry-on baggage only will be less affected by the changes. After checking in with their airline, if necessary, those passengers can proceed directly to the regular passenger security screening checkpoint.

The Prince George Airport Authority says it is working closely with CATSA and airline partners to minimize disruption and maintain safe operations during the repair period.

The airport has not indicated that any flights have been impacted by the equipment issue, but officials say the temporary screening procedures could add time to the pre-boarding process for passengers with checked bags.

The advisory comes during a busy summer travel season, when passenger volumes typically increase at airports across the province. Airport officials recommend travellers plan ahead and arrive with enough time to complete all check-in and baggage screening requirements before their scheduled departure.

The Prince George Airport Authority says it will continue to provide updates as work progresses on the screening system and normal baggage screening operations are restored.
