Crows poisoned by downtown drug litter
PRINCE GEORGE – Crows and gulls have been found collapsing downtown after eating drugs from the garbage, and a local rescue group warns that other animals might be at risk too.
Mandy Calvert, vice-president of Good Caws Crow Rescue, said the group has treated about 15 cases of drug poisoning in birds this season. A few more suspected cases could not be confirmed.
Calvert explained that the birds are looking for food and cannot tell the difference between food packaging and bags used for drugs.
