Spruce Kings add veteran defenceman in BCHL trade

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings have strengthened their blue line with the acquisition of defenceman Max Davidson from the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

The 18-year-old from London, Ontario, joins the Spruce Kings in exchange for the BCHL playing rights to forward Liam Bursaw and future considerations.

Davidson is entering his second BCHL season and brings experience from both the Brooks Bandits and Surrey Eagles. Last season, the six-foot, 175-pound defenceman recorded two assists in five games with Brooks before finishing the year in Surrey, where he scored four goals and added three assists in 41 games.

Following the season, Davidson was acquired by the Bulldogs, but will now continue his BCHL career in Prince George. He is committed to NCAA Division I Clarkson University.

Spruce Kings General Manager Mike Hawes says Davidson’s experience will be a valuable addition to the club’s defensive group.

“Max is a player who will step in and provide some more stability on the back end,” Hawes said. “He’s a veteran player and will be looked upon to play in all situations.”

The move adds another experienced presence to the Prince George roster as the team prepares for the upcoming season.

Davidson has appeared in nearly 50 BCHL games and is expected to play a key role on the Spruce Kings’ blue line, contributing in both defensive situations and special teams. The trade signals the organization’s commitment to adding experience and depth as it looks to remain competitive in the BCHL this season.
