A preview of the 2026 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation events in Prince George

Communities across Canada are preparing to come together in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, with a number of events planned throughout Prince George and the traditional territory of the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation. Observed annually on September 30, the day serves as an opportunity to honour survivors of residential schools, remember the children who never returned home and reflect on the ongoing impacts of the residential school system. It is also a time to learn about Indigenous history, culture and the path toward reconciliation.

Beginning at 12 p.m., participants can choose between a Guided Reconciliation Walk or a community reading of the 94 Calls to Action. At 2 p.m., gather for a Ceremony & Celebration of Culture, including a Drum-In for Survivors, moments of reflection, and the voices of Survivors, Sixties Scoop Survivors, and youth.
