QUESNEL — A Quesnel man is planning a trip to see the pyramids after winning a life-changing $46-million Lotto 6/49 jackpot.

Richard Z. learned he held the winning ticket from the December 20, 2025 Gold Ball draw after hearing the jackpot-winning ticket had been purchased in Quesnel.

That prompted him to check his ticket and then the BCLC website.

“When it said it was the Gold Ball, that’s when the overwhelming feelings set in,” Richard said. “Knowing that out of everyone in Canada, I had the ticket that won $46 million.”

Richard first shared the news with his wife, saying there were “tears of joy” as the reality of the win began to sink in.

Despite the massive windfall, the couple isn’t planning any immediate major changes. Instead, Richard said they want to move forward slowly and use some of the money to travel.

“My wife and I want to do some travelling and I want to see the pyramids,” he said. “We want to experience and enjoy stress free trips.”

Richard added that the couple plans to keep their lives simple.

The winning ticket was purchased at Billy Barker Casino in Quesnel.

Richard completed his prize claim at BCLC’s Kamloops office on October 16.

B.C. lottery players have redeemed more than $135 million in Lotto 6/49 winnings so far in 2026.
