Holiday Enforcement Campaign Numbers Released
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George RCMP has released the numbers for its annual Holiday Enforcement Campaign, and it seems some drivers still aren’t getting the message when it comes to the dangers of drinking and driving.
More than 2000 drivers were checked for their level of sobriety from November 30th to January 1st. That resulted in 45 impaired drivers, 11 other suspensions, 18 prohibited/suspended drivers apprehended, 19 drivers served prohibition orders, 219 Motor Vehicle Act or Motor Vehicle Act Regulation violations, three Liquor Control and Licencing Act violations, four Cannabis Act violations, one Firearms Act charge for having a loaded firearm in the vehicle, three charges of possession of controlled substances, and five other Criminal Code charges. Among those numbers, nearly 50 people were caught driving without a valid licence or insurance.
Officers were working 24/7 during the campaign with a series of check stops and roving patrols throughout the city.
Over the next couple months, the Prince George RCMP’s Traffic Services Section will conduct check stops at high collision intersections to help address impaired driving.
