Numbers Released by Prince George Crime Stoppers
The Prince George Crime Stoppers Society shared it’s latest numbers from 2017. Last year the program received 565 tips from the public. Those tips let to 24 arrests, $103,000 in property recovered and over $150,000 in seized drugs.
Since the society was created in 1985, more than 12 thousand tips have been received leading to 1536 arrests.
For the month of January, it’s Crime Stopper Month and there are a few community events that you can have a chance to participate in. This Saturday at the Northern Sport Centre, you’ll be able to take part in the Paper Airplane Toss at halftime of the UNBC men’s basketball game for a chance to win a Queen 40th Anniversary DVD set. Tip-off for the women’s game is at 5 pm and 7 pm for the men’s. On January 12th, at the Spruce Kings home game, as part of the Family Fun Night, you’ll have a chance to win some more cool prizes. The puck drops at 7 pm and the activities will run during the first intermission. You can also stop by during the Prince George Cougars game on January 19th to win PG Cougars tickets and CD’s and DVD’s from PG Crime Stoppers and 99.3 The Drive.
Looking ahead in the spring, you can shred your personal documents as part of the Spring Shred-It Event on April 21st in the Walmart parking lot from 10 am to 2 pm.
