Safe Rides On New Years Eve

As New Year’s Eve approaches, it’s time to start planning for a safe ride home. There are a few options available in the City of Prince George.

Operation Red Nose is preparing for a busy night, and it will stay open an hour later to accommodate party-goers. About 25 teams will be on the roads and offering rides within city limits. It will be taking calls until 4 am, to book a ride call 250-962-7433. Service is by donation.

BC Transit is also offering free bus service from 7 pm until 3 am on some routes. For a full list of routes and scheduling visit BC Transit.

Taxi companies are expecting to be very busy this New Year’s Eve, starting just after midnight. Prince George Taxi manager, Sam Kuuluvainen, says people who call for a cab can expect a phone call 15 minutes after the initial call for service. That call will let you know the cab’s estimated time of arrival and what time it was dispatched. The company also has an app you can book with, and it will notify you when the car is on the way.
