CNC Postpones Sonography Program Start Date
The College of New Caledonia is postponing the start date of the sonography diploma program from September 2018 to September 2019. The decision was made to ensure students studying at CNC would have the best quality education and clinical placement. Clinical sites are required across the province and collaboration with British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT) is needed to make sure all students registered in sonography programs have the opportunity to access the appropriate clinical site.
“We want the student experience at CNC to be the same calibre as the south,” said Dean of Health Sciences, Glenda Vardy Dell. “Currently, CNC is working with two sonographers as well as BCIT to establish a curriculum that does just that.”
The program will consist of a 27-month, full-time diploma program including 46 weeks of clinical experience in hospitals and or clinics. The goal is for 16 new graduates per year as a result of an investment by the province to fund the startup of the program.
