Food For Fare Starts Tomorrow

The City is joining forces with BC Transit to offer the annual Food for Fare Program.
It means, starting tomorrow and running through to Friday, if you bring at least one non-pershable food item you can ride the bus for free.
“Specifically, we work with our transit partner, which is the Province, as well as PWT, which is the bus operator,” explains Transit Planner, Champa Maduranayagam. “Between the 13th and 15th of December, Transit riders or people who just want to try out the bus, are able to give a non-perishable food item in lieu of the fare.”
People can also donate things like laundry soap in smaller sizes, sugar in larger sizes to be re-packaged, diapers (sizes 5 and 6), resealable Ziploc bags and even Tampons.
All the donated items go to the Salvation Army.
