Violation Tickets Among Changes To B.C.’s Cannabis Regulations
VICTORIA – To ensure health and safety of British Columbians, the Province released new and amended regulations ahead of the legalization of cannabis.
Updates were made for licensing regulation, control regulation, control and licensing transitional regulation, an amendment to violation ticket administration and fines regulation, an amendment to Provincial Sales Tax exemption and refund regulation, amendments to the Park, Conservancy and Recreation Area and Conservation Officer Service Authority regulation, an amendment to Tobacco and Vapour Products Control regulation, an amendment to Business Number regulation, and an amendment to Classification of Land as a Farm regulation.
Among the changes to take note of is the amendment on violation ticket administration and fines. Anyone caught smoking cannabis in a prohibited place will be issued a $230 fine and $58 if someone is vaping. Park rangers and conservation officers will be able to issue violation tickets for certain offences. More details on the regulations can be found on the B.C. government website.
