PRINCE GEORGE – The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services held its public hearing in Prince George Tuesday. The hearing gives the public an opportunity to express concerns or ideas for tax dollar spending in the 2019 Budget. At the hearing, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) brought forward their top concerns for this year’s budget.

“We’re there to urge restraint and to remind these politicians that they need to save money, not spend it,” says Kris Sims, BC Director of CTF.

On their list of concerns, the CTF emphasized the importance of the Trans Mountain Pipeline for the economy.

“We are in favour of the Trans Mountain Pipeline. They need to get that thing through, because if we don’t have a healthy economy, especially a healthy resource sect of our economy, we won’t have a healthy tax base,” says Sims.
