Some sad news to pass along tonight as former Vanderhoof Bear defenceman Lance Russell passed away suddenly on Monday at the age of 81. Russell started playing for the Bears in the 1950’s and was one of the team’s more popular players. Russell played hockey up until the age of 70, and is fondly remembered as Vanderhoof’s version of Mr. Hockey. Russell’s family is sharing this poster on Facebook, inviting people to his celebration of life, which will take place this Sunday at 11am at Fort St James high school.
