PRINCE GEORGE – The Annual Terry Fox run kicked off in Prince George with a special announcement Sunday morning.

The Exploration Place and the University of Northern British Columbia are marking Terry Fox’s heroic Marathon of Hope by co-presenting the most comprehensive exhibition ever organized on Fox’s remarkable legacy. The exhibit “Running to the Heart of Canada”, developed by the Canadian Museum of History and in partnership with Fox’s family, will include Fox’s journal, artificial leg, newspaper clippings and more. It will provide the community with an in-depth look at Terry’s epic 143-day, 5,373-kilometre journey from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Thunder Bay, Ontario.  Also being featured up at the UNBC will be the Marathon of Hope van. Both displays will be open to the public from October 15th 2018 until January 13th 2019. Terry Fox’s brother will also be visiting Prince George later this fall for a talk. Tracy Calogheros, the CEO at Exploration Place says this exhibit will teach the community everything they need to know about Fox’s journey.

“Prince George is special to the Fox family. Given that Terry trained here, he did some of his running here, he participated in a marathon here in Prince George and that really was how he determined whether or not he was going to be able to do this run across Canada. We have a very special place in the Terry Fox story.”
