RCMP Encourage Parents To Educate Kids About Street Safety
PRINCE GEORGE – After a suspicious white van followed two kids in the College Heights area on Saturday, RCMP are enforcing Street Proofing, a program to help parents teach their kids how to be safe on the streets. Ensuring that kids know their home address, how to contact their parents and how and when to call 911 are just some of the ways that can help to ensure the safety of kids while they are alone on the streets.
“We always encourage parents to have conversations with kids regularly to make sure they know what is expected of them from a parent’s point of view, but also about hazards on the streets or anything that could possibly harm them,” says Cpl. Craig Douglass, Media Liason Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
