Smoke Clears For Wildfire Air Support
PRINCE GEORGE – Aircraft is finally back in the air, working to support BC Wildfire crews in on the Shovel Lake fire. Officials say less smoke allowed helicopter buckets to attack the fire Monday.
An Evacuation Alert remains in place for the community of Fort St James however, there is still no movement of the wildfire towards the town, Highway 27 or Highway 16 in the south. In addition, officials say the chances of the fire reaching Stuart Lake are low.
Tuesday’s weather conditions are expected to be similar to Monday with high temperatures in the 20’s and humidity around 30 percent.
Meantime officials are optimistic weather will help crews in the south Okanagan. It says periods of rain over the weekend lowered temperatures and increased humidity in the region.
