PG-based Uganda support organization needs new drill
PRINCE GEORGE — UNBC’s Dr. Chris Opio was born and raised in Uganda. Over ten years ago, he founded the Northern Uganda Development Foundation.
It works to improve the standard of living in rural Northern Uganda but now needs a new drill. Since 2007, the group’s helped install over 63 freshwater wells and with a new drill, which costs $100,00, they can build more specifically around hospitals and schools. The new drill can dig up to 400 feet rather than the current one which can only reach 200 feet, which means wells can be installed in higher demand areas like hospitals and schools.
NUDF is holding its 10th annual African Dinner fundraiser this Saturday, complete with traditional food and dance, a silent auction, and other fundraising activities.
