BC Hydro replaces wooden power poles
8,000 wooden power poles to be replaced by BC Hydro

CARIBOO REGION–Williams Lake is on the top 15 communities BC Hydro will be tackling to rid of wooden power poles as part of an ongoing maintenance program.
Varying weather conditions, insects and wildlife contribute to the wear and tear of the poles overtime which results in replacements.
The average lifespan of a wooden pole is 40-50 years with some lasting much longer. In fact according to BC Hydro the longest wooden pole in the province is located in the Lower Mainland and has been in operation since 1931.
