Prince George Hospice Society hosts first Colour Walk

PRINCE GEORGE— The Prince George Hospice Society provides end of life care for people who are in their final stages of life. It makes what can be a terrifying and daunting moment in life, a bit more uplifting.

Jennia Poburan’s parents both died at the hospice. She says they were given endless love and support before they passed.

“My mom, she was only there for a few hours, but she was given a lot of dignity and compassion with her passing. My dad was there for four months and he was like part of the family there. He was treated with compassion, care and dignity as well.” _{Jennia Poburan}

The Colour Walk was inspired by what the hospice aims to do- make all of life’s moments a bit more bright and colourful. There were no shortage of smiles or colours at the event. Participants walked through a course throughout UNBC while coloured powder was thrown around.

The hospice needs to raise about $1.4 million dollars from the community annually to provide its services. It hosts a variety of fundraising initiatives throughout the year, with the next being the Dream Home Lottery in June.
