RCMP warn about locking doors and windows
PRINCE GEORGE – The message is clear – Prince George is not a town where you can leave your doors unlocked anymore. RCMP Special Constable Fred Greene says thieves are “looking for something to grab quickly without being noticed, usually if you leave your purse on the table, maybe a watch, cell phone, electronics, maybe some cash. Anything that they can get quickly and leave.”
This comes after 4 residences were broken into through open windows and doors in the city in the last week alone. Cst. Greene suggests even locking your doors when you are home especially the front one if you are working in the backyard or vice versa. Keeping your garage door closed and making sure your boat or trailers are hitched are also a good idea to protect your valuables.
Jason Kugler with Curtis Elite recommends residents be proactive instead of reactive. Kugler has seen far too many clients come in looking for a security system only after they have been broken into.
