Conifex sells Fort St. James sawmill to Hampton Lumber

FORT ST. JAMES — Another mill closure has been announced today– this time, Conifex Timber’s Fort St. James sawmill.
However, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Conifex says that mill will stay closed until the sale of the mill and associated forest license is finalized with Hampton Lumber.
That company is purchasing the operation at the price of nearly $40 million.
Hampton Lumber will build a new sawmill in Fort St. James, saying it believes the long-term outlook for Canadian lumber is promising.
