Soapbox Car Derby Returns

PRINCE GEORGE – Soapbox racing was once an annual event held in Prince George. Youth would build a wooden car and then let gravity be their engine to propel them down a hill. This summer two residents are bringing back the idea of soapbox racing that’s been parked for nearly fifty years. A soapbox derby cars are designed to hold one person, it has a basic braking system and steering system. This year’s derby is scheduled for the hill on Victoria street between Ford Avenue and Diefenbaker Avenue. Registration for the “PG Soapbox Car Derby” can be found on Facebook. Funds raised from this event will be donated to Prince George Big Brother Big Sisters.
