Conifex curtailments go into effect in Mackenzie

MACKENZIE — A tough day for forestry workers in Mackenzie as a two-week curtailment goes into effect at the Conifex sawmill.

The company blames the move on continued high log costs and lumber market conditions.

The move comes on the heels of Canfor’s decision to indefinitely curtail its Mackenzie sawmill earlier this month.

Canfor blames its decision on poor market conditions that make the mill “uneconomic under these conditions.”
