Report – military pulling out in search for murder suspects

GILLAM, Man. — A media report says the Canadian military is withdrawing from the northern Manitoba hunt for two young men who are suspects in three B-C homicides.
The C-B-C quotes R-C-M-P Inspector Kevin Lewis as saying the Mounties made the decision this morning that military assistance was no longer needed in the search around Gillam for Bryer Schmegelsky and Kam McLeod.
The military had supplied a Hercules transport out of Winnipeg, but Lewis says ground and air searches will continue in the area using the R-C-M-Ps own resources.
Schmegelsky and McLeod are charged with second-degree murder in the death of University of British Columbia lecturer Leonard Dyck, and they’re suspects in the deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his American girlfriend, Chynna Deese.
