Multi vehicle incident closes Hwy 97 north of Williams Lake

CARIBOO REGION– UPDATE: RCMP North District Traffic Services continues to investigate after a two vehicle collision claimed a woman’s life near McLeese Lake.

Just before 1:00 p.m. on August 2, RCMP officers were called to a report of a two vehicle collision near the 10700-block of Highway 97. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a woman was deceased and two men were injured.

Initial investigation has determined a head on collision occurred when a northbound Ford Expedition crossed the center line and collided with a southbound Ford F350. The driver of the Expedition suffered serious injuries and was air lifted to a larger area hospital, while the driver of the F350 suffered serious injuries and was transferred to a near-by hospital. The female passenger of the F350 was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation and a Collision Reconstructionist and Analyst will assist in the investigation.
