Happy long weekend! Here are the five things we think you need to know:

Watermain flushing will begin next week in the Hart

Residents in the Hart can expect to see cloudy water and decreased water pressure coming out of the tap starting next Tuesday. The City will be starting their routine watermain flushing operations that will run until the end of the month.

RCMP seize stolen items from local residence

An ATV, rifles, bikes, hand and power tools were some of the stolen items recovered in a local residence after a concerned community member called RCMP. A man, known to police was arrested and is being held on outstanding warrants. Police are looking to reunite the items with their owners.

The City and others committed to libraries

Local governments signed letters of support for a campaign launched by the BC Library Trustees Association to raise provincial government funding to $20 million in the next provincial budget. Currently the provincial budget is $14 million spread over 70 libraries and has not changed in ten years.

Chinook caught in red tape

Spruce City Wildlife is concerned over the fate of Chinook salmon. Federally the salmon have been identified as “stock of concern,” and after the Big Bar rock slide they say matters have only gotten worse–not allowing fish to make it through. The Association wants to capture some of the fish that did make it back and breed them in the hatchery.

Multi vehicle incident closes Hwy 97 north of Williams Lake

A multi-vehicle incident closed a 5 km stretch of road between Picard Rd. and Hill Rd on Friday afternoon closing both lanes on Highway 97. The Highway re-opened last night at 11 pm.
