Forestry rally
Forestry rally set for Mackenzie

MACKENZIE — A big rally inspired by cutbacks in the forestry industry is set to take place in Mackenzie tomorrow (Aug.22).
Organizers are calling it Mackenzie Matters and it comes on the heels of the indefinite closure of Canfor’s sawmill and temporary curtailments at the Conifex sawmill throwing hundreds of people out of work.
The rally was organized by local business and union leaders and has brought back memories of 2008 when similar cuts hit the community.
It will include speeches by political leaders, including forests minister Doug Donaldson.
