The best players in the Alberta Junior Hockey League have had to remain in midseason form this summer in preparation for their international opportunity.

Two former Cariboo Cougars are among the AJHL All-Star team playing in Sochi, Russia this week. Prince George’s Jeremy Gervais scored Friday at the 2019 Junior Club World Cup in Sochi, Russia.

Gervais plays for the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the AJHL and gave the All-Star team a 2 goal lead in their game, though they’d ultimately drop the contest to the Russian team, who even had Russian President Vladimir Putin in attendance.

Gervais is joined at the Cup by his Pontiacs teammate and Williams Lake product Daine Dubois, who also used to play for the Cariboo Cougars. The tournament carries on until August 31st.
