PRINCE GEORGE — The world changed on September 11, 2001 when the World Trade Centre was attacked. Eighteen years later and over 4,600 kilometres away in Prince George, a little piece of that history remains.

For 12 years, the Prince George Airport has used a fire engine which was a first responding vehicle at the tragic events of 9/11. A couple features have been specially made or kept, including an arm flash of the New York Port Authority, or Unit 37, and a plaque inside the cab with names of those who lost their lives from that unit. A ceremony was originally held when the truck first arrived in 2007.
