UNBC and CUPE 2278 ratify first collective agreement

PRINCE GEORGE–UNBC and CUPE 2278 have ratified their first collective agreement.

The parties reached a tentative agreement on Sept. 13 after two months of negotiations, members of CUPE 2278 ratified the agreement on Sept. 17 and UNBC’s Board of Governors ratified the agreement on Sept. 19.

CUPE Local 2278 represents around 80 Graduate Teaching Assistants at UNBC. “Bargaining provides an opportunity for both parties to exchange ideas, and I am pleased that both teams were committed to engaging in collegial discussion to reach an agreement that reflects the priorities of both parties,” said Professor Daniel Weeks, president and vice-chancellor of UNBC.
